Tayoga Conversation with Sam Wiesner

The latest installment for Tayoga Conversations is with the one and only Sam Wiesner. Sam is well-known throughout the Modesto Yoga community. In my opinion, her knowledge of the restorative side of yoga is unparalleled in the area. I have enjoyed learning from her. I consider her a true friend and a beautiful person both inside and out. Sam and I started this conversation back in June. It is safe to say that life became busy, and now we are just now finishing this conversation late in August - better late than never! Much has happened during this time. You may not know this, but Sam will be leaving the Modesto yoga community to start a new adventure – which includes more yoga training (no surprise there!). While she may be leaving Modesto, Sam’s impact on this community will never leave. We wish you the best of luck, my dear! Know that you always have a home here in Modesto. With that said, the following conversation is quite lengthy, but well worth the read. Namas(tay) friends. Tay

Savasana

I love savasana! Anyone with me? I am proud to say I have never had to leave during savasana. It would have to be an extreme circumstance to get me to leave early. Anyway, here is a picture of me doing savasana in a hammock on the beach in Belize. BEST. SAVASANA. EVER! Have a great day!

I'm Back!

Sorry for the lack of posts lately! The hubby and I went on vacation to Belize and as you can probably guess it was fabulous! Muggy...but fabulous! The humidity over there makes the Valley heat seem not that bad. The cell reception was also terrible so blog posts were a no go but I figure you guys understand. We are still recovering from the trip so to hold you over until my next post here is a picture of me doing Salamba Shirshasana/Headstand in Belize City the day we arrived. I am the exclamation point. The other gal is the photo bomber! Have a great day! Namas(tay)

Cold Season

Well... I came down with my first cold of the year. I was so close to making it a whole year! My husband and I went to Napa for his work Christmas party this past Friday. It was a delightful time; but then I did not feel good for the rest of the weekend. However, I did manage to make it to a yoga class in Napa. It was titled "Vinyasa - Advanced". I was hoping that I could use this class to sweat out my cold, but, unfortunately, it did not work. I did enjoy the class, though. I always enjoy attending new classes with new teachers so I can bring new ideas to my classes. One thing I have noticed is many Vinyasa teachers do multiple small flows in their classes, while I tend to do one flow and then build on it. Just goes to show that the possibilities are endless. Vinyasa really is like a box of chocolates, you never know what you are going to get!

Life Happens

Well it has been a month since my last post! My only excuse is that life happens. Within that month Andrew and I have gone on a couple trips including an awesome 5 days trip to San Luis Obispo for his 32nd birthday. Other things that happened are my mama had to have a biopsy which came back negative for cancer (WAHOO!), at work we had our annual state survey (which was a week from hell but I survived), and last but not least I have now taught 12 yoga classes! This means Tayoga is officially making money! Honestly, the money is not why I do it but it just seems to make things more official. The studio I work at (Elevate Community Yoga) requires you to teach 8 karma classes to give back to the community before you get paid. I had no problem teaching those 8 classes. It was the least I could do for all that the Elevate community has done for me! Well I better get back to work! I promise it won't be another month until the next post! Cheers! P.S. Family Reunion

I experienced my first family reunion on my husband's side this weekend. I have to say it was a very enjoyable experience...Whew! We all met up in Capitola and the weather was amazing. Give me the beach, sunshine, and a good book and I am one happy lady! While we were there I tried out a new yoga studio called Breath + Oneness. The class was not my favorite style of yoga but it was a good experience. Everyone was friendly and the space was light and calming. I want to make it my goal to try and attend a yoga class when my husband and I travel. I did this when we went on our Tennessee/North Carolina trip for my 30th birthday back in April. I like attending new yoga classes because it gives me new ideas for my students. There are endless options when it comes to yoga which is probably one of the reasons I love it so much. Like I always say, a girl's got to have options! Hope to see you Friday at Elevate Community Yoga!
