BIG NEWS!

I figured since I haven't done a blog post in 2 months that I would make this a good one... Tayoga Baby #2 is due December 2022! Andrew and I are very excited and Edison doesn't really know what's going on... other than Mom keeps pointing to her belly and saying baby. Haha! My plan is to keep teaching as long as possible like I did with Edison. I was actually supposed to teach the day I went into labor with Edison. Good thing I had a backup teacher come just in case I didn't make it!  That was the BIG NEWS! Hopefully it put a smile on your face. Have a great day! It's almost Tayoga Friday. Wahoo! Namas(tay).

Can Life Get Better?

Polar Bear jammies and a puzzle crown. Can life get any better? Maybe if you add some Tayoga to the mix...and some orange sunglasses ;) Love ya, my friends. Namas(tay).

Happy 2022!

Happy belated Christmas and New Year everyone! I hope your holidays were what you wanted them to be. Ours were pretty chill which was lovely. I'm excited to see what the new year will bring. New Tayoga things are in the works so stay tuned, my peeps. Namas(tay). Here's a picture from our park trip today. Just thought you might enjoy it. 🧡

Where Have I Been?

Where have I been, you might ask? Unfortunately, no exciting trips to explain my two month hiatus from writing a blog post. Yep... it basically comes down to me being lazy! Or should I blame the fact that I have a one year old? Yes, let's do that. Edison has kept me sooo busy the last 2 months that I have not had a single moment to create a post. ;)   I did have a good excuse last week, since a cold went through the Huff household. I promise it was just a cold and not that darn virus that won't seem to go away. I'm so tired of hearing about it that we should treat it like Voldemort from Harry Potter and call it, "It that shall not be named," or something of the sort. Anyway, I've gone off on a tangent.  Yoga... since that is what this blog is about... What to say about yoga? Hmm... I didn't teach last week, so today was my first day back after my cold and it felt so good. I tried a couple new little quirky moves that I will definitely use again. Since the

Mr. ONEderful

It's pretty crazy to think that Andrew and I have been parents for almost a year! Edison turns the big ONE on September 5th. How did that happen? I think it has flown by, but Andrew says it feels like the kiddo should be 4 years old by now. I roll my eyes because this is coming from the guy who has been sleeping through the night for the past year!  Anyway... it has been a wonderful year full of adventure. Edison is truly Mr. ONEderful and I cannot wait to see what the future holds for our little guy. Hopefully, he learns to enjoy yoga (unlike his father). Haha! If not, that's ok, too. Have a ONEderful weekend, my peeps! Namas(tay).

Perseverence

My first Mommy and Me Yoga class at the Dragonfly-Art for Life was April 16, 2021. Since that date, I have had one mother/daughter pair show up one time. It can be a little disheartening when people don't show up... especially to a free class! I stuck with it, though - Edison and I show up every week (unless we are on vacation of course). I am pleased to report that this last Friday  -3 months after my first class - I had a few more people than normal. 11 more to be exact! It was a bit chaotic, but that's what happens when kids get involved. Oh, what a blast it was! I realize it probably won't be like that every week, but it gave my confidence a little boost and I cannot wait for the next one.   See you there with your kiddo?  Nasmas(tay)   Mommy (or Daddy) and Me Yoga Fridays 11:30am-12pm Dragonfly-Art for Life @ 1210 J Street Can you spot Edison? He is on the move!

What A Week

It has been quite an interesting week, hence why this post is getting done on Sunday instead of Friday. I am meeting a very good friend for a walk soon so I will keep this brief. Sunday - Huff Family get-together since Grandma is moving out of her house after 40+ years. Monday - My first day at my new job at Central Valley Specialty Hospital. Tuesday - My last day at my old job, Garden City Healthcare, after 7+ years. Wednesday - Girls day (plus Edison) with my Mom, Sister, and Aunt. As a bonus we went to dinner for my Mother-n-law's birthday at Redwood Cafe. Thursday - Errand running (quite productive but not very exciting). Friday - Taught my 9am Vinyasa class at Elevate. It was so much fun! I made a "So Long" playlist as a tribute to my old job. There was good energy in the room and everyone seemed to have a good time.  Saturday - Edison was baptized at St. Joseph's Catholic Church and then family came to our house afterwards. It was such a beautiful special day a

Bring Your Kid To Yoga

In case you haven't heard, I have restarted my Friday lunchtime yoga - but with a new twist. It is now "Mommy (or Daddy) and Me Yoga," so bring your little one(s) with you! I will have Edison with me and we can have a grand ol' time. Yoga is great for all ages, so start them young. The class is still located at the Dragonfly-Art for Life at 1210 J Street in downtown Modesto. Class is now 11:30am-12pm and kiddos of all ages are welcome. If you would like to sign up, check out Tayoga Class Signup to reserve your spot.  Hope to see you there! Namas(tay).

Better Late Than Never

Well, this post is a day or two (or five, but who's counting) days late, but, better late than never. My brain has been a bit all over the place the last week and a half. Let's just say a change is brewing for ol' Tayoga - but change is often good.  Today has been a good day. I got to wear shorts, a tank top, and sandals all day, so that was a good start. I got to hang with family, then catch up with a friend. Change can be good, but hanging out with friends and family on the regular is something I'll never want to change! Happy hump day, my peeps. Namas(tay).

My Labor Story/Edison's Birth Day

Let me start by saying that I always have good intentions for wanting to write about big events in my life. I want to because I don't want to forget anything. Unfortunately, I get overwhelmed just thinking about the task so, oftentimes, I end up not doing it. This is not going to be one those times because I'm not sure I have ever been more proud of myself in my entire life. I've always dreamed about having a baby and imagined what labor would be like. Women's bodies are literally designed to create life. It's quite trippy when you think about it. So, in this blog I will be documenting 3 birth stories. The birth of Edison Andrew Huff, our sweet baby boy, and the births of a mom and dad. It might have some moments of TMI, but that's labor for ya! I hope you enjoy. If not, well, at least I have it written down so I can look back on a moment in my life that I am so incredibly proud of. You might wonder why I included this story on my yoga blog. First, I met my Doul

My Guys

Just dropping you all a quick pic to show you the handsome fellas behind the Tayoga brand. I love them so much! Have a great week everyone. Namas(tay).

Taking It Slow

Here's the picture it wouldn't let me upload last week. Apparently, I just needed to refresh my screen! Why couldn't I come up with that last week? I don't know, but, here it is now. Edison is now 3 weeks old. Yesterday I did some stretches and used my bolster for the first time since he was born. It felt amazing. I'm excited to ease back in to yoga. I've read a lot about this time being the fourth trimester (which is a contradiction, I know). Our culture praises women for getting back to their usual shape, exercises, routine, etc. after giving birth, but I've learned that it is a slow healing process (even if you are feeling good). So that's what I'm doing: I'm taking it easy. Slow walks and stretches are where I'm at, as well as lots of snuggles with my boys (I haven't forgotten about Andrew!). Have a great week and maybe take a little extra time this week to take care of yourself. Everyone needs it. Namas(tay).

I Didn't Make It!

Hi all! If you read my post last week, you'll remember that I asked if you thought I would make it to teach my last Friday yoga class before Baby Tayoga arrives. The answer: NOPE! I had to call in reinforcements (AKA Kaycie Hall) to teach my Friday morning class because active labor was in full swing by Friday afternoon. Luckily, active labor was "only" 11 hours long and Edison Andrew Huff was born at 12:56am on Saturday, September 5, 2020. He is a big boy weighing in at 8 pounds, 12 ounces, and 21 inches long. I am pleased to report that I was able to have him naturally; because of that, recovery is going smoothly. My hubby, Andrew, and my Doula, Vanessa, were my rocks throughout the whole thing. I could not have done it without them.  Mama, Daddy, and Baby are all doing well. We are all so happy. Edison truly is perfection.  I still plan to keep up on this blog and my Patreon page. I'll likely be sharing Baby Tayoga updates because he is such a big part of our lives

Will I Make It?

Want to hear something crazy? My due date is this Thursday, September 3rd. Say what?! Where has the time gone? This has certainly been a crazy time to be alive, let alone pregnant! I'm still feeling pretty good but starting to slow down. That's why this Friday will be the last Tayoga class for a little bit. Do you think I will make it? Or will the baby going to come first? I think I'll make it but we shall see! Don't worry though, I'll be back to teaching on Fridays when my body is ready for it. I've already worked it out with Kaycie at Elevate Community Yoga. Let's hope the studios have opened up again by then, because teaching in the park while it is cold does not sound appealing! I guess you've got to do what you've got to do to get your yoga in, though. Am I right? Have a great week, my friends. Namas(tay).

Whoops...I Blame Pregnancy Brain

My bad, my peeps! I just started my maternity leave and apparently my brain has gone to mush which is why I am writing this post on a Tuesday instead of a Monday. I'll do my best to not let it happen again but at least I got in some yoga time yesterday! Even though I wasn't doing my blog I was still doing yogi things. I was able to attend my first yoga class since everything got closed down again. Kaycie from Elevate Community Yoga led a 75 minute (pregnancy friendly) Hatha class at Ashby Park in Modesto. It was lovely. Even though I was the only pregnant one there I think everyone appreciated that it was pregnancy friendly!  The rest of the day was pretty chill. I took a nap after yoga (which was also lovely) and the rest of the day consisted of doing whatever the heck I wanted to do (re-organizing the house and baby's room, start packing my hospital back, watch the Giants game, eat gummy bears from Sprouts, snuggle with the hubby). There was a slight glitch in my lovely d

What A Weekend

This weekend was so lovely. Despite only sleeping about 3 hours Friday night, I had the absolute BEST day on Saturday. It started bright and early at 7:30am with me teaching a 75 minute Vinyasa class at Ashby Park. The yoga class was the first leg of the Fukari Tribe Triathlon. Elevate Community members also came out to enjoy some fresh morning air and yoga, so we had quite the group of people! For this special event, I created an "Action" playlist - all songs that mentioned walking, running, biking, swimming, jumping, etc. Our peak pose was literally jumping up and down to Kris Kross' "Jump." Haha! That put a smile on everyone's face. To top off the event, I sold lots of Tayoga swag! Tank tops, t-shirts, sunglasses, and decals. I'm going to have to get more made now - which is a good problem to have. My Merch Maker is also quite excited about it! After I finished up with Tayoga in the park, I hurried home to get ready for my baby shower!

Tayoga Conversation with Sharon Taporco

Sharon Taporco is a HUGE part of the Modesto Yoga Community - she teaches so many different styles of yoga at many different locations. We’ve been able to hang out a few times and even did our Assisting Program through Elevate together. Through this conversation, I have had the pleasure of getting to know her a little better, and now you can get to know her a little bit better, too! Not only does Sharon teach a lot of yoga, but she is also going to school, so she is one busy lady. It took us a little while to complete this conversation because we have both been busy, but I promise it is worth the wait! Enjoy, my friends. Tayoga: How did you get started with yoga? Sharon: My mother introduced me to yoga when I was in high school. She took me to the class she went to at Gold's Gym (yeah, that long ago), and, as it turns out, Debra Rocha was our yoga teacher. I didn't make that connection until I started teaching in 2017 when my Mom pointed it out. To be honest, it took m

COVID Pregnancies

Just a fun picture of me and my co-worker/friend, Kayla, celebrating our COVID pregnancies. Kayla is one of my secret weapons for my playlists. She loves helping me come up with songs. I'll get texts from her on random days and times with song ideas. It always makes me smile. She just moved to Kentucky last week 😭 but she still plans to help me with playlists! Just you wait... Tayoga will be nationwide before you know it! Have a great week! Namas(tay). I realize we aren't social distancing but how cute is this picture? At least our masks are on!

Nicknames Update

Hi all! I am officially 30 weeks along in my pregnancy. Time really does fly by, and the kid isn't even here yet! I have done a couple other posts about the nicknames our baby boy gets every week. Since we have yet to decide on a name, we come up with a nickname based on his current size. It's a lot of fun and friends and family have enjoyed getting in on the fun too! I really thought we would pick out the name ahead of time but now I'm pretty sure we are going to wait until we see the little guy before we decide. It's driving our nieces crazy that we won't tell them what the options are but I have to admit it is kind of fun having it be our secret. Below is the updated nickname list starting from week 22. Let me know which one is your favorite. Have a great week, my friends. Namas(tay)! Week 22 - Papaya - "Peyton" Week 23 - Ear of Corn - "Cornelius J. Cobb" (I think this is our favorite nickname so far) Week 24 - Large Zucchini - "Zuc

Just a Couple Thoughts

Normally an idea comes to me for this blog by the time Monday rolls around. That is not the case this week, so I'm just going to write down a few of my thoughts - since everyone seems to have a lot of time with their thoughts these days. Thought # 1 - I miss people. It isn't bad working from home (especially while pregnant), but I miss being around people the majority of the time. When I'm around people all the time it makes the quiet days seem like a special treat. Thought # 2 - Feeling baby kicks have been keeping me "oh so happy" throughout all this nonsense. Andrew enjoys feeling them, too. Definitely the best part about pregnancy. The little guy is actually kicking as I write this! Thought # 3 - I love downtown Modesto. Andrew and I went to pick up sandwiches from the Brighter Side last week (YES, THEY ARE OPEN AGAIN!) and it was the first time I saw downtown in over a month. Oh, the fun memories! I can't wait until going downtown is a regular activ
