Gloomy With a Side of Joy

Hello, my peeps! How are you on this dreary Friday? I was not in the best mood when my alarm went off this morning and I saw there was no sunshine outside. If you know me, you know I'm a sunshine kind of gal. Rain is nice for 1-2 days and, most importantly, I don't have to go out into it. Unfortunately, I couldn't stay snuggled in bed with the hubby but the good news is at least I was going to do something fun...YOGA! I was interested to see who would brave the rain to make it to yoga. Answer: all the regular peeps. My morning class at Elevate was a class of 4 regular Tayoga peeps and I decided to use a very old playlist that I had never used in class before. It is different than all other Tayoga playlists because none of the songs contain words. It was a last minute decision to use this playlist instead of the new playlist I made last night because having no words means it is a little more low key usual. I figured it went well with the lack of sunshine. Since it was a diff

Workplace Tayoga

Friday was the first official workplace Tayoga. It was held for the employees of the Almond Board of California, which is located on the top floor of the Doubletree Hotel in Modesto. This event came about because one of the employees had attended my free Friday lunchtime yoga at the Dragonfly-Art for Life. She enjoyed it and thought it would be nice to bring yoga to the workplace. I couldn't agree more! No matter where you work, it seems like stress is always present. It's the degree of stress that seems to vary. Whether you experience a little stress or a lot of stress at work, yoga is always a good idea, in my opinion! The Almond Board brought me in to teach yoga as a way to help the employees relieve stress. This makes me so happy because stress sucks! Count me in for helping others relieve some of that nonsense! I had 10 ladies join me for this 45 minute yoga session. I thought it was going to be chair yoga, but when I walked in, they had their conference room set up with

My Love for Orange

Hello all and happy Monday. I decided to theme this post around my favorite color, orange. If you know me, you know I am very passionate about this favorite color of mine. My love for orange started back in elementary school. I believe I was in the 4th or 5th grade when my parents bought a pool table to put in our game room. Oh how exciting that was! My friends and I would play for hours. Since we were not coordinated enough to play actual pool, we decided to come up with our own game. We would divide the balls between us by color, then roll them back and forth on the pool table trying to make them in the pockets on the other persons side. I always found myself choosing the 5 and 13 balls because they were such a fun, vibrant, happy, beautiful color...ORANGE! Since then, my love for orange has grown exponentially! I think it was fate that my first car was an orange 1972 Datsun 510. Fast forward to today and you will rarely see me without my orange sunglasses on. My yoga mat is orange

NEW CAR!

If you cannot tell - I am very excited! Andrew and I got a new car last night!! Woot woot! It is a 2015 Lexus ES 350. I know a Lexus sounds very fancy (because it is) but we were able to get a really good deal on it and had to drive all the way to Marin to get it. We traded in my Hot Tamale for Ms. Sexy Lexi! I know what you are thinking... Lexi is such an original name for a Lexus. This post is not about yoga, but I will say that the first thing I put in the new car... my yoga mat! Shockingly enough, Sexy Lexi got even prettier after that. :) Have a great day!

Yoga Mats

Do you have a favorite yoga mat? Mine (currently) is the 5mm mat from Lululemon. It was a couple year process to discover this mat though. I started out with Gaiam since it was at Target! However, I am one of those individuals who has very sweaty hands and feet so I always had to put a yoga towel down to absorb the sweat. The next mat I tried was a Jade mat but even with this one I had to put a towel down. The towel isn't a big deal but it is just one more thing you have to deal with. I finally found my Lululemon mat when my husband and I were visiting Walnut Creek. I always like to walk into Lululemon but I could never justify spending that much money on their items. However, I had never looked at the prices of their mats until our trip to Walnut Creek. $68!!!! That is the most reasonably priced item in the place! I bought one on the spot! Later I bought another one to travel with and 3 more for friends. Just last weekend I discovered they started making them in orange and I coul
