Weekend Getaway

Hi all! I hope you all had a wonderful weekend. Andrew, Edison, and I were fortunate enough to have a little weekend getaway with some friends in Monterey. The weather was GORGEOUS! It was an exhausting weekend but we packed a ton of fun in. Some highlights included watching sunsets on the beach, visiting the Monterey Bay Aquarium, and soaking up some sunshine with friends. Of course, I had to throw in a yoga pose in front of the ocean for good measure ;)  Have a great week! Namas(tay). Note: The orange Aloe Vera flowers match my pants and sunglasses! One of many reasons I love sunsets...they are often ORANGE!

Bring Your Kid To Yoga

In case you haven't heard, I have restarted my Friday lunchtime yoga - but with a new twist. It is now "Mommy (or Daddy) and Me Yoga," so bring your little one(s) with you! I will have Edison with me and we can have a grand ol' time. Yoga is great for all ages, so start them young. The class is still located at the Dragonfly-Art for Life at 1210 J Street in downtown Modesto. Class is now 11:30am-12pm and kiddos of all ages are welcome. If you would like to sign up, check out Tayoga Class Signup to reserve your spot.  Hope to see you there! Namas(tay).

What A Weekend

This weekend was so lovely. Despite only sleeping about 3 hours Friday night, I had the absolute BEST day on Saturday. It started bright and early at 7:30am with me teaching a 75 minute Vinyasa class at Ashby Park. The yoga class was the first leg of the Fukari Tribe Triathlon. Elevate Community members also came out to enjoy some fresh morning air and yoga, so we had quite the group of people! For this special event, I created an "Action" playlist - all songs that mentioned walking, running, biking, swimming, jumping, etc. Our peak pose was literally jumping up and down to Kris Kross' "Jump." Haha! That put a smile on everyone's face. To top off the event, I sold lots of Tayoga swag! Tank tops, t-shirts, sunglasses, and decals. I'm going to have to get more made now - which is a good problem to have. My Merch Maker is also quite excited about it! After I finished up with Tayoga in the park, I hurried home to get ready for my baby shower!

Tayoga Triathlon

FUN NEWS EVERYONE! On August 1st, I will be hosting the first leg of a triathlon! It is not your typical triathlon - it sounds far more fun! There's a local group called the Fukari Tribe that enjoys doing different outdoor activities and they have decided to put together a triathlon that features yoga, a 5K, and a swimming portion. A friend of mine, Teresa Wright, is putting it together and she asked if I would host a 75 minute Vinyasa class at the park to be the first leg of the race! Naturally, I said yes. This special Tayoga class will take place at 7:30am at Ashby Park in Modesto on Saturday, August 1st. If you only want to do the yoga portion you are more than welcome to head home after it is over. If you want to continue on with the rest of the race then participants will head out to Lake Turlock for a 5K - you can run it if you want to but if you would rather walk, bike, skateboard, or roller blade then that works too! After the 5K, the final leg is a swim in the lake which

COVID Pregnancies

Just a fun picture of me and my co-worker/friend, Kayla, celebrating our COVID pregnancies. Kayla is one of my secret weapons for my playlists. She loves helping me come up with songs. I'll get texts from her on random days and times with song ideas. It always makes me smile. She just moved to Kentucky last week 😭 but she still plans to help me with playlists! Just you wait... Tayoga will be nationwide before you know it! Have a great week! Namas(tay). I realize we aren't social distancing but how cute is this picture? At least our masks are on!

If You Have a Water Bottle You Might Want to Read This

Decals are the newest Tayoga swag!! I just put in an order, so get ready, because they are coming your way. They look so cool - but I may be a little bit partial. Let me know if you want one so I can set it aside for you.  If you're interested in getting your own items made you can check out my Merch Maker, Nichole Delgadillo, on Instagram @itsthelittlethings209 or like her Facebook page "Its the little things." She is so creative and skilled at what she does. Have a great week and get your water bottles ready!  Namas(tay).

Back At It - In More Ways Than One!

Hi all! This is going to be a quick post because it is a busy Monday! Andrew and I spent the last week at the beach for our anniversary. That means it is back to work today. Wish us luck. In more exciting news, TAYOGA IS BACK AT ELEVATE! My usual 9am Vinyasa class resumes this Friday, June 5th at Elevate Community Yoga. Space is limited to 11 due to distancing requirements, so be sure to sign up online instead of just showing up like usual. It's going to be so fun to be back at the studio... though I did enjoy teaching in the park as well. Additional exciting news, the Dragonfly-Art for Life plans to reopen Friday, June 12th. This is where I usually hold my lunchtime yoga class. I am working with Barbara, the owner, to see what we can work out for restarting lunchtime yoga on Fridays 12:15-12:45pm. I'll keep you posted on this and will continue to use Zoom until further notice. So many exciting things. I can't wait to start SEEING people again! Take care. Be safe. S

Tayoga in the Park

This past Friday was absolutely AMAZING! I got to teach a 75 minute Vinyasa class IN PERSON to 8 lovely ladies. A friend of mine suggested I should do yoga in the park, which sounded like a fantastic idea! There are so many parks to choose from in Modesto; I wanted to find one that would be somewhat quiet and would provide some shade if needed (I don't want my students cooking in the sun!). With the help of Andrew (who knows this town very well) we settled on Ashby Park. It is a small park nestled in a quiet neighborhood. The park is grass and trees - no playground, no benches - it was PERFECT! Speaking of perfect, please tell me you were able to get outside this past Friday because the weather was absolute perfection. I'm sure God planned it that way for my first live yoga class back. As you can see from the picture, it was comfortable to practice in the sun with a light breeze providing relief when things started warming up! I will definitely will continue to do Tayoga in A

It's Simple Really

I went to dinner with a friend last Tuesday. We don't get to see each other very often so it was nice to catch up with her. She is a great conversationalist and always asks questions that make me think. We were talking about some things I have been working on for Tayoga and she asked me. "What is the goal for Tayoga?" I had to think about it for a second. I just enjoy teaching yoga and doing yoga and making playlists and basically all things that go along with being Tayoga that I never really thought about what I want the end goal to be. Andrew calls Tayoga my million dollar idea. It would be exciting if Tayoga turned into something that everyone in Modesto or even the nation knew about. Maybe one day my logo will be as popular as the Lululemon logo or maybe orange sunglasses will be all the rage and it will all be because I love yoga. This wasn't my answer to the question though. My answer was simple really. I never want to not do yoga . I always want to teach Tayoga

TICKETS FOR TAYOGA'S BEER & PRETZELS EVENT

It's time for another Tayoga event! This one has been an idea of mine for quite some time. I have this dream that one day the hubby and I will own a brewery/yoga studio. Wouldn't that be amazing? Would you want to do yoga and drink beer in the same place? It sounds delightful to me! Speaking of yoga and beer...Tayoga's Beer & Pretzel event is coming your way next month. Below is the link to Evenbrite to purchase tickets. Space is limited so reserve your spot. Come drink, flow, bend, and have a good time. Plus, I won't send you home empty handed! Cheers and Namas(tay)! Click Here for Eventbrite Tickets

Savasana

I love savasana! Anyone with me? I am proud to say I have never had to leave during savasana. It would have to be an extreme circumstance to get me to leave early. Anyway, here is a picture of me doing savasana in a hammock on the beach in Belize. BEST. SAVASANA. EVER! Have a great day!

I'm Back!

Sorry for the lack of posts lately! The hubby and I went on vacation to Belize and as you can probably guess it was fabulous! Muggy...but fabulous! The humidity over there makes the Valley heat seem not that bad. The cell reception was also terrible so blog posts were a no go but I figure you guys understand. We are still recovering from the trip so to hold you over until my next post here is a picture of me doing Salamba Shirshasana/Headstand in Belize City the day we arrived. I am the exclamation point. The other gal is the photo bomber! Have a great day! Namas(tay)

Tayoga Tap Takeover

Ok... so it's not really a tap takeover, because there are no taps to take over and it is only one beer BUT it is the first ever Tayoga Brew! A friend of ours, Aaron, is a home brewer. I knew he was the right man to help make Tayoga Brew because he also brewed a delicious Milk Stout for our wedding.  A couple Saturday's ago, Andrew and I went over to Aaron's house to begin the brewing process. It wasn't easy like I thought it was going to be. I figured I'd get to drink beer and, every once in a while, I'd toss a new ingredient in. That was not the case! Aaron made sure I understood what I was doing, so I was quizzed throughout the entire process (I passed with flying colors, in case you were wondering). I also had to grind coriander with a mortar and pestle and stir for quite some time while we added the malt (and there was LOTS of malt)! I lucked out, though, since he bought a new stirring spoon - I hear the old one was quite irritating! After everything was

My Love for Orange

Hello all and happy Monday. I decided to theme this post around my favorite color, orange. If you know me, you know I am very passionate about this favorite color of mine. My love for orange started back in elementary school. I believe I was in the 4th or 5th grade when my parents bought a pool table to put in our game room. Oh how exciting that was! My friends and I would play for hours. Since we were not coordinated enough to play actual pool, we decided to come up with our own game. We would divide the balls between us by color, then roll them back and forth on the pool table trying to make them in the pockets on the other persons side. I always found myself choosing the 5 and 13 balls because they were such a fun, vibrant, happy, beautiful color...ORANGE! Since then, my love for orange has grown exponentially! I think it was fate that my first car was an orange 1972 Datsun 510. Fast forward to today and you will rarely see me without my orange sunglasses on. My yoga mat is orange

LOGO!

Check out the new Tayoga logo! I am very excited about it. And yes, that is me doing Warrior 3/Virabhadrasana III. This pose was chosen for my logo because it looks like a "T" for Tayoga. In order to make the logo personalized to me, the orange sunglasses were added. If you know me, I always have my orange sunglasses with me! I'd melt in the sun without them! My husband was a huge help on this one. We both contributed to the idea but he is the one who worked with Never Boring Design to make our vision a reality. We chose Never Boring because they are a local company and we always try to support the local guys. They did a great job and I could not be happier with it. Keep an eye out for the Tayoga logo. When you see the orange sunglasses you know it's time to try out a Tayoga class! Can't wait to see you.
