I Broke My Pinky Toe

Well... I broke my left pinky toe on Thursday. Sigh... I wish I could say I was practicing ballet or rock climbing, or something else cool, but I wasn't. I stubbed it on my garbage can. Seriously? I was pretty upset so Edison held up 3 fingers and told me, "Mama take 3 deep breaths." I love that kid.  I still taught my Vinyasa class the next day. I sat in a folding chair and told everyone what to do. Some people thought that meant the class would be easier. Muahahaha! Incorrect!  Anyway, sending good vibes for a great week and healthy toes! Watch out for that garbage can (or bed frame) they can sneak up on you! Namas(tay). P.s. What do you think of my new shoe? Stylish right?

Happy Birthday To Me!

For my birthday this year I decided to teach a heated Vinyasa class at my favorite studio, Elevate Community Yoga. The new owner, Cat Ramer, provided funfetti cupcakes and mimosas afterwards. These lovely ladies showed up and made my day. It was a great start to my birthday season!  I hope you all are well! Cheers and Namas(tay)!

BIG NEWS!

I figured since I haven't done a blog post in 2 months that I would make this a good one... Tayoga Baby #2 is due December 2022! Andrew and I are very excited and Edison doesn't really know what's going on... other than Mom keeps pointing to her belly and saying baby. Haha! My plan is to keep teaching as long as possible like I did with Edison. I was actually supposed to teach the day I went into labor with Edison. Good thing I had a backup teacher come just in case I didn't make it!  That was the BIG NEWS! Hopefully it put a smile on your face. Have a great day! It's almost Tayoga Friday. Wahoo! Namas(tay).

Can Life Get Better?

Polar Bear jammies and a puzzle crown. Can life get any better? Maybe if you add some Tayoga to the mix...and some orange sunglasses ;) Love ya, my friends. Namas(tay).

Weekend Getaway

Hi all! I hope you all had a wonderful weekend. Andrew, Edison, and I were fortunate enough to have a little weekend getaway with some friends in Monterey. The weather was GORGEOUS! It was an exhausting weekend but we packed a ton of fun in. Some highlights included watching sunsets on the beach, visiting the Monterey Bay Aquarium, and soaking up some sunshine with friends. Of course, I had to throw in a yoga pose in front of the ocean for good measure ;)  Have a great week! Namas(tay). Note: The orange Aloe Vera flowers match my pants and sunglasses! One of many reasons I love sunsets...they are often ORANGE!

Happy 2022!

Happy belated Christmas and New Year everyone! I hope your holidays were what you wanted them to be. Ours were pretty chill which was lovely. I'm excited to see what the new year will bring. New Tayoga things are in the works so stay tuned, my peeps. Namas(tay). Here's a picture from our park trip today. Just thought you might enjoy it. 🧡

Happy "Belated" Thanksgiving

Hi all! How is it December tomorrow? Anyone else feel like time is just flying by? Anyway, I just popped on here to wish you a belated Happy Thanksgiving. Andrew, Edison, and I had 3 Thanksgivings this year. Having multiple in one day can be rough so I am very thankful that is was only one per day. In between the busyness of Thanksgiving, teaching Black Friday Tayoga, and attending a Gallo show this last weekend, I am pleased to report that the Huff House is fully decorated for Christmas. Our tree is up and Edison is enjoying taking all the ornaments within reach off of it. Let's just say the top of our tree is heavy with ornaments! I am not a fan of winter but Christmas and all it comes with is most certainly the redeeming quality of winter. Though I will admit the weather the past couple days has been quite lovely but don't tell anyone I admitted that ;) Have a lovely day and a very Merry Christmas season, my friends. Namas(tay). P.S. Black Friday Tayoga was a small class but

Gloomy With a Side of Joy

Hello, my peeps! How are you on this dreary Friday? I was not in the best mood when my alarm went off this morning and I saw there was no sunshine outside. If you know me, you know I'm a sunshine kind of gal. Rain is nice for 1-2 days and, most importantly, I don't have to go out into it. Unfortunately, I couldn't stay snuggled in bed with the hubby but the good news is at least I was going to do something fun...YOGA! I was interested to see who would brave the rain to make it to yoga. Answer: all the regular peeps. My morning class at Elevate was a class of 4 regular Tayoga peeps and I decided to use a very old playlist that I had never used in class before. It is different than all other Tayoga playlists because none of the songs contain words. It was a last minute decision to use this playlist instead of the new playlist I made last night because having no words means it is a little more low key usual. I figured it went well with the lack of sunshine. Since it was a diff

Where Have I Been?

Where have I been, you might ask? Unfortunately, no exciting trips to explain my two month hiatus from writing a blog post. Yep... it basically comes down to me being lazy! Or should I blame the fact that I have a one year old? Yes, let's do that. Edison has kept me sooo busy the last 2 months that I have not had a single moment to create a post. ;)   I did have a good excuse last week, since a cold went through the Huff household. I promise it was just a cold and not that darn virus that won't seem to go away. I'm so tired of hearing about it that we should treat it like Voldemort from Harry Potter and call it, "It that shall not be named," or something of the sort. Anyway, I've gone off on a tangent.  Yoga... since that is what this blog is about... What to say about yoga? Hmm... I didn't teach last week, so today was my first day back after my cold and it felt so good. I tried a couple new little quirky moves that I will definitely use again. Since the

Mr. ONEderful

It's pretty crazy to think that Andrew and I have been parents for almost a year! Edison turns the big ONE on September 5th. How did that happen? I think it has flown by, but Andrew says it feels like the kiddo should be 4 years old by now. I roll my eyes because this is coming from the guy who has been sleeping through the night for the past year!  Anyway... it has been a wonderful year full of adventure. Edison is truly Mr. ONEderful and I cannot wait to see what the future holds for our little guy. Hopefully, he learns to enjoy yoga (unlike his father). Haha! If not, that's ok, too. Have a ONEderful weekend, my peeps! Namas(tay).

Olympic Time!

In case you haven't heard, I love watching the Olympics! The Summer games are my favorite, especially gymnastics and beach volleyball. Doubles badminton is pretty great too. Come to think of it... I like almost everything! Because I love them so much, I have been staying up far too late watching them. Ugh! Staying up late, having a job, and being a mama to an almost 11 month old is not the best combination, but I love all three, so I tough it out and enjoy! Let's just say my yoga class last Friday was not as intense as usual because Tayoga was feelin' the chiller vibes. Good news, I think everyone appreciated it!  Have a chill week, my friends! Namas(tay).

Perseverence

My first Mommy and Me Yoga class at the Dragonfly-Art for Life was April 16, 2021. Since that date, I have had one mother/daughter pair show up one time. It can be a little disheartening when people don't show up... especially to a free class! I stuck with it, though - Edison and I show up every week (unless we are on vacation of course). I am pleased to report that this last Friday  -3 months after my first class - I had a few more people than normal. 11 more to be exact! It was a bit chaotic, but that's what happens when kids get involved. Oh, what a blast it was! I realize it probably won't be like that every week, but it gave my confidence a little boost and I cannot wait for the next one.   See you there with your kiddo?  Nasmas(tay)   Mommy (or Daddy) and Me Yoga Fridays 11:30am-12pm Dragonfly-Art for Life @ 1210 J Street Can you spot Edison? He is on the move!

Home Sweet Home

You may have already figured it out, but the family and I have been on vacation the last 3 weeks. Well... since we had Edison with us, it was actually a trip rather than a vacation - a road trip to be more precise! That's right! We took a 9 month old on a 3 week road trip and it went pretty darn good, I would have to say. There were a couple bumps in the road but nothing major (whew!). We were gone 22 days, visited 11 cities in 5 states and made tons of good memories. We are home safe and sound. It feels good to be home but it's a little bittersweet. The end of trips always make me a little sad, but getting to sleep in my own bed makes me VERY happy.  Happy hump day, my friends. Namas(tay).

Tayoga Does Nutrition

Hi all!    Many of you know that I am a Yoga Teacher, but you may not know that I've been a Registered Dietitian for almost a decade. New opportunities in the nutrition field have been coming my way, so I figured it's time to embrace them. On Saturday, June 12th @ 2pm I will be teaching an in-person interactive Family Nutrition 101 workshop. My good friend, Veronica Tovar, with Breathing Through Counseling and Wellness Services in Modesto, reached out to me. We met at our Yoga Teacher Training 3 years ago and she is an amazing counselor with a dream to combine counseling and wellness - which is where nutrition comes in. Tickets are available on Eventbrite at this link  Family Nutrition 101 . It's a great opportunity for an afternoon out with the family to play, learn, and, of course, eat!    Hope to see you there, my friends! Namas(tay).

What A Week

It has been quite an interesting week, hence why this post is getting done on Sunday instead of Friday. I am meeting a very good friend for a walk soon so I will keep this brief. Sunday - Huff Family get-together since Grandma is moving out of her house after 40+ years. Monday - My first day at my new job at Central Valley Specialty Hospital. Tuesday - My last day at my old job, Garden City Healthcare, after 7+ years. Wednesday - Girls day (plus Edison) with my Mom, Sister, and Aunt. As a bonus we went to dinner for my Mother-n-law's birthday at Redwood Cafe. Thursday - Errand running (quite productive but not very exciting). Friday - Taught my 9am Vinyasa class at Elevate. It was so much fun! I made a "So Long" playlist as a tribute to my old job. There was good energy in the room and everyone seemed to have a good time.  Saturday - Edison was baptized at St. Joseph's Catholic Church and then family came to our house afterwards. It was such a beautiful special day a

Change Is Coming

My brain has been a bit scattered lately. If you read last week's post you will know the main reason why. The other major reason (besides being a mom) is because I am transitioning to a new job. I have been the RD at Garden City Healthcare for almost seven and a half years. It is hard to leave; but, I must admit, I'm a little excited for the change, as well. Hopefully, once I'm a little more settled in my new position my brain will get back on track!  My Tayoga class this morning was fun but I messed up on a couple of the cues (scattered brain side effects). I tried to tell everyone to bring their gaze up to the ceiling but at that moment I forgot what the ceiling was called! Haha :) Oh well. It happens.  I revamped an old playlist last night and I am pleased to report that I even got a compliment on it today which makes this playlist better than the original version! It is so nice when that happens.  Ok... I have to go put the boy down for a nap. Happy Friday, my friends.

Heavy Heart

Hello, my peeps. I usually try to keep my Tayoga posts light and cheery, because that is how I feel most of the time. Today, not so much. Today, my heart is heavy and my eyes are teary. Andrew and I found out yesterday that one of our close friends passed away due to an accident. I wasn't going to post it, because it doesn't have anything to do with yoga; but then I realized that this blog isn't just about yoga, it's about me. My post today is not to make you sad; it's simply a reminder: Life is short and can be over far too quickly. Andrew and I have been giving each other extra hugs, kisses, and "I love you's." Edison has been getting extra of those, too (which I didn't realize was possible, since he gets so many already)! This is your reminder to do the same, since you don't know when your time will end.  Love you, my friends. Namas(tay).

Bring Your Kid To Yoga

In case you haven't heard, I have restarted my Friday lunchtime yoga - but with a new twist. It is now "Mommy (or Daddy) and Me Yoga," so bring your little one(s) with you! I will have Edison with me and we can have a grand ol' time. Yoga is great for all ages, so start them young. The class is still located at the Dragonfly-Art for Life at 1210 J Street in downtown Modesto. Class is now 11:30am-12pm and kiddos of all ages are welcome. If you would like to sign up, check out Tayoga Class Signup to reserve your spot.  Hope to see you there! Namas(tay).

Post-It Notes

I walked into the yoga studio this morning and found this post-it note from a fellow teacher (on an orange post-it I might add)! It is safe to say it started my day off right. My family would always leave notes for each other when I was growing up. My Mom and Dad still do it (they really are the cutest). If you think about it, leave a little note for a loved one. It will definitely make them smile. Happy weekend, my friends!  Namas(tay).

Off The Top Of My Head

Happy Friday! It is a gorgeous day outside. Andrew went golfing and Edison and I will be heading to my sister's house shortly to color some Easter eggs. Our poor little guy got 3 shots yesterday, so he's not feeling all that good. He is currently napping which is the opportune time to write my weekly blog :) I am excited to say that I actually got to take a yoga class last night. It felt so good. A friend encouraged me to go, so I'm hoping to make it a regular thing. It sure helps having lots of family around to help with the kiddo. Yoga was quite a bit of fun this morning. I had 5 people attend, and before class they were talking about how all the Elevate teachers had kicked things up a notch since returning from the latest COVID closure. They mentioned that they liked challenging classes, so I took that as a challenge! For having no plan going in to the class I think it turned out quite well! There were lots of planks, core work, and leg strengthening. I even tried out a
