Yoga Playlists

As I start to write this blog post, I find myself nodding my head to the beat of one of my favorite songs, "No Diggity" by Blackstreet. Can you blame me? It's such a good song! Hey yo hey yo hey yooo! This leads me in to the topic of yoga playlists. How do you feel about them? Some yogis prefer silence, while others enjoy music to their movements. There are some days where I prefer to listen only to my breath. But, the majority of the time, give me some good tunes to flow to and I am one happy camper! I quickly became known for my funky playlists. I tend to throw in songs you wouldn't normally think would be used in a yoga class. It brings me joy and my students seem to love it (at least they haven't told me otherwise)! I teach the way I like to be taught. So when you come to my class be prepared to try something new and flow to a song you may feel the need to sing to! Yoga is a very serious practice but it doesn't mean you have to have serious music or

Kids Yoga

This past Friday, I had the privilege of teaching my first ever Tayoga Kids Yoga class! I was a nervous wreck before - because kids can be scary - but it was an absolute BLAST! This came about because my sister, Hilary, has 2 girls, Olivia and Emily, and they wanted Auntie TayTay to come to their classroom to teach yoga. Last week, I taught Emily's 2nd grade class. There were between 15-20 kids so it was not too overwhelming. I am pleased to report that not only did I have a good time but the kids did too! When the teacher asked if they wanted Mrs. Huff (which sounds super weird to hear out loud) to come back, all the kids shouted "YAAAAA!" Oh, it was so much fun. Afterward, I was able to speak with the teacher a little bit and she said in her 22 years of teaching, she had never had someone come do yoga with her students - She loved it. Of course, now Olivia is itching to have me come teach her class - which is 4th grade. 4th grade seems even more intimidating, but, I&#

Game of Thrones Yoga

Cue Game of Thrones intro music... "A girl has a name, and it's TAYOGA." "I yoga, and I know things." "Tayoga is coming." If you are a fan of the HBO series Game of Thrones you will understand these references that I put a little twist on. However, you may still be confused by the fact that Tayoga and Game of Thrones seemingly have nothing to do with each other. This is where you would be incorrect! That's right - in honor of the final season of Game of Thrones coming out this April, I will be putting together a special Game of Thrones Yoga event at Elevate Community Yoga! If I'm going to be honest, I have had this idea for years. Before I even decided to take my Yoga Teacher Training, I thought a GoT themed class would be the coolest thing ever! How am I going to make it Game of Thrones themed, you may ask? Obviously, I will play Game of Thrones music, but there are other songs that could work for the flow, as well. For instance, Q
